Church Cottage Museum is a 16th Century Gem. Church Cottage was restored in 1994/95 and tells the story of its life since its original construction in 1590, as a Tudor dwelling within an agricultural community, as an Inn during the 18th century, Victorian School Room and finally as a family home once again for the latter part of the 20th century. See the...
- "peasants hovel" and sleeping gallery where shelter was provided for both people and animals.
- the Inn where convicted criminals on their way to imprisonment in Lancaster Castle were lodged.
- the Victorian School Room where generations of children have been taught.
- the Parlour where the Church Sexton lived for many years, with its cast iron cooking range.
- the Wash-House and Store Room with its collection of household utensils and artefacts which Grandmother will remember.
You will have the opportunity to wander around the Cottage Museum, Cartshed and Gardens set in tranquil Lancashire countryside at the heart of the old Broughton Village alongside St John the Baptist Parish Church and Primary School (National School) forming Broughton in Amounderness Village Heritage Centre.
Guided Tours include Tudor Church Cottage Museum, Parish Church and Victorian National School.
