Built around 1596 by merchant Benjamin Cowper, this charming quayside house has been home to wealthy families and prominent Great Yarmouth figures through the centuries. Its rich history is reflected in an extensive collection of antique furniture and impressive artworks.
Step into the Conspiracy Room and uncover the house’s links to Oliver Cromwell and the Parliamentarians - was the death of Charles I plotted here? Elizabethan House Museum is a National Trust property managed by Norfolk Museums, offering free admission to both Norfolk Museums Pass and National Trust members.

There is no lift in the building, so unfortunately access for wheelchair and pushchair is limited to the ground floor rooms. A toilet is also available on the ground floor, however it is not large enough to accommodate a wheelchair. Assistance dogs welcome.
