A guided walk down one of Norwich’s oldest streets. Discover the history of the buildings, the people who lived there and the events that shaped what we see today.
Elm Hill is one of Norwich’s most ancient streets. Many events throughout history have led to the street that we see today. It holds more Tudor buildings than the City of London, now heavily disguised behind more recent facades. Wealthy merchants lived here, along with ordinary folk and religious groups. On a walk down this fascinating street you will learn the origin of its name, the reason it is shaped as it is, and you will get to know the people who lived here. We will also see the backs of the buildings from the riverside, which gives another aspect.
