Life was hard in a Castle; even harder if you were poor. There was disparity between rich and poor in every area of life: clothing, food, education, health and housing. Much is written about the rich and influential characters in history, but those who lived in poverty are not so well represented. The poor were not considered important.
Join a guided tour to discover the silent stories of those who lived and worked at Carew. The cooks, spit-boys, laundresses, masons, gong farmers, stable hands, entertainers and Stewards. It took an army of people to keep the Lord and his family living in comfort.
