This fascinating illustrated talk by Art Historian, Dr Elizabeth Goldring reveals another side to the Lord Leycester’s founder, Robert Dudley: his patronage of Nicholas Hilliard, Queen Elizabeth I’s favourite portraitist and one of the greatest miniature painters of all time.

Dr Elizabeth Goldring is an Honorary Reader at the University of Warwick, a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. She is the author of several books, including “Nicholas Hilliard: Life of an Artist” (2019) and “Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, and the World of Elizabethan Art” (2014).
