A free trail in and around the splendid Tudor manor house. The trail is suitable for families. Look at discovery in the 16th and 17th Century and how it changed the world as they knew it forever.
The free trail will be available from Oakwell Hall and will be in and around the building, but not upstairs so should be fully accessible.
Aimed at families, but free to all.
European nations including the Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and the English started a period of exploration during the 16th Century motivated by promises of wealth and trade in luxury goods. Discover where they sailed to and what they traded and how it changed the world forever. Find out what a pirate looked like in Tudor times and how difficult were the journeys they made.
No booking required but trail only available when the hall is open 12 noon - 4pm Saturdays and Sundays (Last entry 30 minutes before closing time).

Please note that Oakwell Hall is a Grade 1 listed building and access to upstairs areas in the hall is only via stairs. The trail will be downstairs and around the building but not upstairs, but visitors are encouraged to explore the whole building where possible.
