Did you know that West Horsley Place is a forgotten Tudor royal residence?

Join us for the day and discover more about this remarkable chapter in our story. We'll be peeling back the centuries to imagine the estate when it was King Henry VIII's manor of Horsley. Discover how he used the estate and which of his wives spent time here, by chatting with costumed interpreters and our expert volunteers.

Explore the historic house at your own pace

Come and discover the history of the Manor House and walled gardens. The most prestigious rooms in the house will be open for you to enjoy.. There will be expert stewards in each room sharing the remarkable stories of West Horsley Place through the centuries, with a special highlight on the Tudor period.

Jane's Historical Kitchen

We will be joined by Jane's Historical Kitchen, who will be cooking up a Tudor storm in our kitchen, including authentic morsels that you can try!

1000 Remarkable Tudor People

Melita Thomas will be giving two talks, during the day, on her fascinating book 1000 Tudor People. Cobham Bookshop will be selling copies plus lots of other popular Tudor titles.

Discover Gertrude Courtenay and Elizabeth Fitzgerald

Our resident storyteller, Olivia Armstrong, will be bringing to life the women of West Horsley, including Gertrude Courtenay who hosted Henry VIII for hunting and feasting.

And Henry VIII wasn't the only Tudor monarch to make their mark here; Elizabeth I visited at least five times. Find out more about her special friendship with the lady of the manor Elizabeth Fitzgerald and what it takes to entertain Gloriana herself.
