The Great Hall- Creativity Unwrapped Tour

We invite you to join our experienced guides as they take you on a journey of creativity to discover The Great Hall’s story and much more.

Welcome to The Great Hall- one of England’s finest standing halls of the 13th century. Completed in 1235 with soaring marble columns and stone gothic arches this hall has witnessed many creative changes over the centuries, from Henry III to Queen Victoria.
We invite you to join our experienced guides as they take you on a journey of creativity to discover The Great Hall’s story and much more.
Find out about Henry III’s passion for art and architecture, learn about the creation of the great steel gates at the East end of the Hall and unearth the inspiration behind the painting of the Round Table.

What inspired the Victorians to take the Hall back to its original form, and what did they discover?

We will take you through the ages to discover how and why The Great Hall evolved into what it is today!

On Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th September- Entrance is free to those booked on the special themed tours.
On Saturday 16th September- Entrance is free to all for the HODS Open Day. Booking still required for special themed tours.
On Sunday 17th September- Entrance is free to those booked on the special themed tours.

Access

There is full wheelchair access to The Great Hall, Queen Eleanor's Garden, the Long Gallery and Gift shop. There is limited disabled parking on site and additional disabled parking is located in the nearby Tower Street car park.
