Book launch of the first complete history of Fulham Palace

Join community archaeologist & author Alexis Haslam for the launch of This land of 50 hides: The archaeology and history of the Fulham Palace site, from prehistory to the present and discover the story beneath Fulham Palace through its first complete history.

Explore the archaeology, discoveries and hidden stories behind one of London’s most historic sites. From excavation to publication, Alexis will share the journey of researching and writing this landmark monograph, uncovering thousands of years of history beneath the Palace grounds.

This lecture will reveal remarkable finds from the site and trace Fulham Palace’s story from prehistoric activity on the Thames foreshore and Roman settlement, through the Saxon and medieval periods, to its development as the historic home of the Bishops of London. This talk will also explore the Palace’s botanical history, including its role as London’s second oldest botanic garden.

Following the lecture, there will be an opportunity to ask questions during a live Q&A session with Alexis.
