A historical talk about the Winchester Bakery's recently restored decorative painting which dates from the 16th century.
Have you walked past the Winchester Bakery and wanted to learn more about our beautifully restored building? Located by the medieval Buttercross, our building dates from the early 16th century and has been sensitively restored to allow the historical features of the space to speak for themselves. Conservation work has recently revealed two decorative schemes above the fireplace, including Elizabeth I's coat of arms and the 5 gates of Winchester. Our conservationist Peter will give a talk on the process behind his work and the painting's historical significance.
