Trerice is an intimate Elizabethan manor house tucked away in the heart of Cornwall that remains little changed by the advances in building fashions over the centuries thanks to long periods under absentee owners. Its collection includes of a number of longcase clocks, an enormous table in the Great Hall, a grand Tudor bed in the Great Chamber and a selection of paintings by Cornish artist John Opie.
Small but varied gardens surround the house at Trerice, including an Elizabethan knot garden, whose pattern matches the decorative plaster ceiling in the Great Chamber, the kayling lawn, where visitors can try a game of Cornish kayles, the parade ground, with breathtaking views of the surrounding land, a small turf maze and the mowhay field. There is plenty of wildlife to discover, especially when enjoying a quiet moment in the summerhouse with bird nesting boxes nearby.
There is also a café housed inside the barn that supplies a range of food and drink options, as well as a second-hand bookshop and a National Trust giftshop.
On Saturday 16 September, a local folk band will be playing a selection of Cornish and Welsh celtic music for visitors to sit back and enjoy. Performances will take place in the Great Chamber and outside on the Rear Court, weather dependant, at 1400 & 1500.

Access
There is partial wheelchair access to the house at Trerice. The upper floor is accessible via an alternative entrance. There are several steep slopes around the property and stairs to access different parts of the garden. We supply access maps which indicate the best routes for wheelchair users to take. Mobility scooters and pushchairs are not permitted inside the house but we have wheelchairs to borrow on site.
