HEVER IN HISTORY: 26 – 28 AUGUST

Step back in time at Hever Castle during the August bank holiday weekend. Immerse yourself in different periods of history with encampments and re-enactments from the Middle Ages to as recent as 20th Century. Get up close to weaponry and suits of armour and try them on for size.

Watch demonstrations in one of the arenas which include medieval cannons, muskets and guns.

Plus, falconry displays will be taking place and the Knights of Royal England will be returning to battle it out at the annual Jousting Tournament.

Please note that loud bangs/cannons will be firing through the day with part of this event.

ACTIVTIES

Living History Displays – Included in admission price
Immerse yourselves in living history encampments.
Times: Daily, 10:30 – 17:30
Location: Church Lawn, Catalpa Lawn, Horse Shoe Lawn, Half Moon Lawn, Winter Lawn and Anne Boleyn’s Walk

Battle Displays – Included in admission price
Watch live battle displays between different groups throughout the day.
Times: Daily, timings of these will be displayed on chalk boards around the arena.
Location: Church Lawn and Half Moon Lawn

Parade of re-enactors – Included in admission price
Starting on Church Lawn, re-enactors will walk as a group through the grounds, onto Half Moon, past the Castle and finishing back on Church Lawn.
Times: Daily, 17:00 (the parade will last 10 minutes)
Location: Throughout the gardens

Rumford Artillery and Company of the Phoenix Fire Power Display – Included in admission price
The display will provide a brief history of medieval black powder weapons and demonstrate loading and firing process.
Times: Daily, after the jousting tournament has finished at 15:30

Stalls
There will be a few stalls in the grounds so you can peruse authentic/mock items used throughout history.

Jousting Tournament – Included in admission price
The Knights of Royal England will be entertaining visitors with exhilarating displays of action, stunts, falls and fights.
Times: Daily, the jousting field opens at 13:00 and the tournament begins at 14:15

Falconry Displays – Included in admission price
Be entertained by falconry displays from Willow’s Bird of Prey Centre
Times: Daily, 11:30 and 15:45 (displays last 20 minutes)
Location: Church Lawn
