Sheffield Manor Lodge is a historic green space offering a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience the history and heritage of the area. Whether you’re interested in exploring historical buildings, wandering through beautiful grounds, or looking for fun activities to do with the kids, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Explore the Turret House: The Turret House is the oldest surviving part of Manor Lodge. Discover how Mary, Queen of Scots spent her time in captivity and the story of her custodians, George Talbot and Bess of Hardwick. See a feast fit for royalty, enjoy dressing up and have a go at our plots and intrigues games.
Roam the Tudor grounds: Sheffield Manor Lodge boasts meadow filled gardens, at their height between June and September. The apothecary garden showcases traditional Tudor plants, herbs, and flowers and the inner courtyard hosts a lavender labyrinth. There are outdoor games and a sandpit to enjoy.
Enjoy refreshments: The Discovery Centre has drinks and refreshments while the Rhubarb Shed Cafe offers delicious lunches and homemade cake. The cafe sits just down the hill – a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive.

Accessibility details
There are 2 accessible allocated parking bays for disabled drivers. A level path on a slight incline will take you into the Discovery Centre. There is an accessible toilet at the Discovery Centre. Access into the grounds is over grass from the Discovery Centre. The site is grassed with some areas of archology creating bumpy ground. Access into the ground floor of the Turret House & exhibition is over a lipped threshold. Access onto the 1st and 2nd floors & further exhibitions is via a spiral stone staircase.

Rhubarb Shed Cafe: Wednesday to Sunday 10am to 3pm (pre-booked or takeaway only). Assistance dogs are welcome for all visits. Please look out for dog friendly days in the summer season which are open to all dogs.
